County Treasurer

The Treasurer receives monies for the County. The Tax Office sends out property tax bills and collects current and delinquent tax payments. The Motor Vehicle Office processes titles and registers all vehicles within the County. A variety of Montana license plates are available through this office. Taxes owed to the state, municipalities, schools and special districts are collected at the treasurer’s office with the authorization of the County Commissioners. The Treasurer invests county funds in interest-bearing certificates.

Refund Policy
The Granite County Treasurer is not responsible for payments made on the wrong property or the wrong motor vehicle and payments so made cannot be refunded. If your mortgage company pays your property, do not pay it yourself.

Privacy Notice
Any information acquired on this site is for the sole purpose of processing online payments. Information is for use by Granite County to insure proper credit is given to the customer. No information will be used or released to third party vendors or solicitors. No vital credit card or account information is stored at this site.

Secure Transactions
Your transaction is made using a secure site. This site is in partnership with the eGovernment services for the state of Montana.

Online Payments

You can pay your real estate, personal property, or mobile home taxes by credit or debit card or by e-check. Your parcel id# is required to make payment.

You can pay your motor vehicle renewal online by credit or debit card or by e-check. You must have your plate# or VIN# to renew. Please make sure that we have a current address to mail your registration.

You may pay your justice court fines only by credit or debit card or by e-check. Please make sure that the name appearing is the person to whom the ticket was given.

You may also pay miscellaneous fees, such as clerk & recorder recording fees. Please call our office for information.

MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express accepted, fees are as follows: 1.995% + $1.00 + $0.25 e-checks are $2.00

Superintendent of Schools

The position of the Granite County Superintendent of Schools is a combined position with the Granite County Treasurer and is

elected by the public for a four year term.

The Superintendent of Schools has general supervision of the public schools of Granite County.  This includes financial concerns,

school budgets and levies, transportation, tuition, centralized clerical and administration functions, submission of annual financial
